Synchro NSW & Synchro ACT is pleased to announce the tentative competition and event schedule for the upcoming year. Several events are pending confirmation of pool time, the website will be updated so please check back regularly

 

 

 

Upcoming Synchro NSW/Synchro ACT events

• June 23rd, 2018:  Figure competition (part of Group 1 figures) – Monte Sante Angelo Pool
  • NSW Synchro June competition skills
• August 4th: Coaching Seminar Monte Sante Angelo
• September 9th, 2018 – Canberra Competition- 11:30-3:30: Routine – no minimum time limit (difficulty or artistic impression judged only) + Group 2 figures
• November 24th, 2018 – Sydney Olympic Park 1pm – 5pm (pool booking to be confirmed)- State competition -Sydney -full routine and random figure draw
• February 17, 2019 –  (pool booking to be confirmed) Canberra competition – Canberra Competition: Routine (Execution only) +  Group 3 figures

 

NSW is hosting the level 1 coaching course. Details are below.

Date: Saturday 2 June 2018 & Saturday 16 June 2018

Time: 9am start

Venue: Pool Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College, 128 Miller Street, North Sydney, http://www.monte.nsw.edu.au/

Price: $230 (includes all the texts, examination and the accreditation)

What to bring: pen or pencil, notebook, comfortable sport clothes and shoes (to be worn in the classroom and on a pool deck), lunch, drink and other refreshments

If interested in attending, please fill in the attached registration form and please return it with the confirmation of payment to me via email tokatarina.poorova.ssai@gmail.com (preferred) no later than 2 weeks before the course (ie by 19th May 2018).

Entry prerequisites

Participants are not required to have completed any other training programs as a pre-requisite for enrolling in the Level 1 coaching training program and no practical experience is necessary.  However, to attempt the final assessment at the end of the course (ie on Saturday 5 November), participants must:

• be financial members of SSAI or hold a current coaching insurance cover. Please contact Synchro NSW registrar on Synchro.nsw@gmail.com  for the current Synchro NSW Registration form. (no need to present confirmation, I will seek this independently)
• have successfully completed a recognised cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course  and hold a valid certificate (present a copy of the certificate)
• have read the SSAI Coach’s Code of Ethics Policy and have signed the SSAI  Coach’s Code of Ethics Agreement Form (sign the attached)
• be 16 years of age on completion of all the Level 1 requirements to be eligible for accreditation (ie within 3 months of attending the course) – (copy of a driving licence, passport, proof of age card)
• have completed the ASC  “Community Coaching General Principles online course”. To complete this, please access http://www.ausport.gov.au/participating/coaches/education/onlinecoach, register and follow the instructions. (present copy of the certificate)

All these documents must be emailed or presented to me before/on the day of the assessment on Saturday 16th June please. 

I have also attached a Needs Analysis Questionnaire and I would very much appreciate if you could fill it in and return to me as soon as possible

2018 SSAI Nationals Bulletin No. 2

We are excited to welcome two new clubs to our community.

Canberra Cascades are a talented group of young swimmers that train at the Gunghalin Leisure Centre in Canberra. Follow them on facebook or check out their website for more information.

 

 

 

The Fleurieu aquatic centre may be far from NSW, but we are happy to support the growth of their new synchro program. Watch out for more information, programs are scheduled to start in January 2018.

Sydney has a very special synchro guest in town for vacation, Ona Carbonell. Ona is presently the most ionic synchronised swimmer in the world. Ona won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics and won many International events. She has raised the profile synchronised swimming into mainstream sports in Spain, her home country. Ona is also a model and fashion designer. Check out the amazing links of Ona below

Synchro NSW is so excited Ona has agreed to say hello and do a show while she is in Sydney.

• Schedule:
  • 7:00-7:30pm – Meet and Greet with Ona
  • 7:30-7:45pm – Question and Answer with Ona
  • 7:45-8:00pm – Olympic Synchro Trivia while the performers warm up
  • 8:05pm – Junior Tech Duet
  • 8:10pm – Junior solo
  • 8:15pm – Ona’s Solo from Worlds 2018
  • 8:20pm – 8:45pm (approximately) – Ona will demonstrate technical skills at the competitive level
• No entry fee
